Come and hear Beryl Young present "One Writer's Life". She will also talk about her award winning book Follow the Elephant, a richly colourful, adventure-packed novel, that keeps you turning page after page, while the sights, sounds and flavours of India permeate the senses.
Beryl received the Chocolate Lily award for the best novel in B.C. in 2011-12 for Follow the Elephant. Beryl lives in Vancouver. Visit her website at www.berylyoung.com.

We are very pleased to welcome Pamela Porter to our meeting.  Pamela Porter is the author of four collections of poetry, two verse novels, and a novel and picture book for children. Her most recent verse novel, I'll Be Watching (2011) has been shortlisted for the 2012 Bolen Book Prize. 

The winner will be announced October 10 at the Victoria Book Prize Gala being held at the Union Club, 805 Gordon St., 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 and are available now at Bolen Books, Munro’s Books, Ivy’s Bookshop, and the Victoria Book Prize Society (250-589-8430).

Pamela's first verse novel, The Crazy Man, won the 2005 Governor General’s Award, the TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award, the Canadian Library Association Book of the Year for Children Award, and other accolades. 

Pamela lives in North Saanich with her family and a menagerie of rescued horses, dogs, and cats, including a formerly wild mustang.
