Monique’s presentation will be a sharing and storytelling time focusing on Indigenous children’s literature. She will explore the importance of children having their lived experience reflected on the pages, and why factors that foster resilience are ideally woven into all books for Indigenous children. The role Indigenous children’s literature plays in reconciliation will also be discussed.

Monique Gray Smith is a mixed-heritage woman of Cree, Lakota and Scottish ancestry and a proud mom of twins. Monique is an accomplished consultant, writer and international speaker, blessed to live on Lekwungen territory in Victoria, British Columbia. For more information, visit www.moniquegraysmith.com
