Victoria Children’s Literature Roundtable, Nellie McClung Branch Library.

 

Polly Horvath, winner of the 2013 Bolen Book Award for One Year in Coal Harbour, will come and talk to us about her writing career. Polly’s award winning books, such as The Trolls, The Canning Season, and My One-Hundred Adventures, delight children with their quirky sense of humour, rich language and plucky heroines. Doors open at 7 pm. Browse Schoolhouse Teaching Supplies and Children’s Bookstore table before the meeting begins at 7:30 pm. VCLR is open to the public. A presentation of The Great Plastic Roundup, featuring The Cascadian Crusaders, a book by local authors Michelle Peters, Haemish Beaton, Alex Witcombe and Jarrett Krentzel, illustrations by Alex Witcombe. Learn about all the plastic in our oceans and what we can do about it. Book the Cascadian Crusaders to bring their program to your school.

Victoria Children’s Literature Roundtable, Nellie McClung Branch Library

Stephen McCallum, local award-winning picture book illustrator and animator will tell us about his new publishing venture, Crow Cottage Publishing, which produces audio-enhanced children’s e-books for the iPad.  Local award-winning author Sheryl McFarlane will join us, as Stephen is publishing some of her picture books. 

Come and see how picture books translate beautifully to the e-book form.
